With summer just a week away, new showrooms are popping up just about everywhere. In our monthly summary, home business collect all the expansions and openings to have on your radar.

Featured Showroom: Rimadesio Debuts a North American Flagship

Giussano, Italy-based home furnishings brand Rimadesio had been toying with the idea of ​​a US showroom for some time. But it was only in the last month that the company was finally able to make that dream a reality with a shiny new flagship store in New York’s NoMad district.

For years, Rimadesio’s business model in the United States consisted of a single independent representative, andrea roman, based in Europe and going back and forth about four times a year to grow the US market. When Rimadesio began looking for a location, he was faced with the all-too-familiar skyrocketing prices of the Manhattan real estate market. Then the pandemic came. “We had seen this space before COVID, but the money they were asking for was beyond what we might think,” says Romano. “When COVID happened, I said, ‘Okay, let’s check again.’ Another real estate agent gave us many options and told me that the owner was willing to discuss the price. We got it 37 percent, and I called [owners and brothers Luigi and Davide Malberti] and said either we do it now, the right price, the right location, or never. A week later, we agreed on the space.”

The new flagship is distributed over three floors with a total of more than 6,000 square feet, a space that led the Italian architect andrea pozzoli about a year to renew. Spearheaded by Romano and a team of four, the showroom features the company’s full product portfolio, from doors and shelving to panels and cabinets, allowing architects and designers to experience various Rimadesio products working in concert. “Designers can touch and see that Rimadesio goes beyond just a sliding door: they see back panels, entire walls, walkways with furniture,” he says. “Suddenly they realize that Rimadesio is not just a product but a complete system. Not only do you sell more this way, but designers can find real solutions. They look like kids in a toy store. And it’s contagious, they use it in one house, and then in another and another. That is what we’re trying to do here.”

California

In West Hollywood, Soho House’s designer retail arm Soho Home is opening a Soho.Home.Studio location on Melrose Avenue. At over 9,000 square feet, the two-story studio is the brand’s second to open in the US and first on the West Coast. Open only to members of Soho House, the space will also feature a selection of work by member designers.

RH has unveiled a new furniture gallery in San Francisco on Pier 70. Located in the historic Bethlehem Steel Building, the neoclassical façade was finished by artist James Goodman and the adjoining space features the retailer’s suite of furniture, lighting and home accessories, as well as The Palm Court restaurant.

Multidisciplinary creative group Industrial Craft Studio has opened its first physical store in San Francisco’s Mission District. The commercial space offers a selection of new and iconic pieces, including furniture and housewares, selected by the founder Max Burton and his team of designers.

Swedish design brand Hem has opened its first dedicated West Coast showroom in the Los Angeles Arts District. Reimagined by Hem’s in-house team, the 1,800-plus-square-foot space was once a dumpling factory, but now lends its postmodern undertone to the brand’s array of home furnishings.

Illinois

Luxury mattress company Duxiana, known for its Dux mattress, has just opened a showroom in downtown Chicago at 445 North Wells Street, just two blocks from The Mart. For the previous 15 years, the company’s presence in the Midwest was based in Hubbard Woods, Illinois.

Wallcovering titan Maya Romanoff has announced the opening of her headquarters, studio and showroom in Skokie. Serving the greater Chicago territory, the new location will allow designers to work with the brand’s internal team, shop their collections and see the manufacturing process firsthand.

Maryland

Luxury design firm McLean and Tircuit has moved its retail boutique and studio to the Laurel Historic District. The new space will offer a curated shopping experience for custom furniture, home accessories and gifts, in addition to interior design services from McLean and Tircuit.

Direct-to-consumer furniture retailer Interior Define has opened a new store in Baltimore Harbor East. The design studio concept features staged vignettes to introduce a residential feel to the shopping experience.

Massachusetts

Direct-to-consumer furniture and lifestyle brand Burrow has opened a new retail store on Newbury Street in Boston. Following the successful launch of an omnichannel sales approach led by its New York-based storefront, Burrow House Boston is the first of 10 new locations to open over the next two years as part of the brand’s strategic retail expansion.

New Jersey

Family-run Schwartz Design Showroom has announced the opening of the Fulton Street Design Center in Edison. The 12,000-square-foot space will house the Schwartz Design Showroom, the company’s furniture manufacturing partners, and a dedicated mezzanine space for displaying fabrics and wallcoverings.

New York

Following its successful launch in Los Angeles, textile manufacturer Kvadrat is now opening a second showroom in New York. Located at the corner of 475 Park Avenue and 58th Street, the showroom spans 8,000 square feet and features two connecting spaces. The main space, industrial designer Jonathan Olivaresshowcases Kvadrat’s contract lines, while the adjacent Vincent Van Duysen Architects area showcases the brand’s residential offerings.

Danish design brand By Lassen has unveiled a new two-story showroom in Tribeca, where architects and designers can find a variety of the company’s upholstered furniture, housewares and home accessories.

Handmade rug brand Tufenkian has moved its showroom from New York to SoHo. Serving the design trade in the tri-state area, the Wooster Street location also welcomes retail patrons.

Palm Beach, Florida-based home accessories boutique Via Coquina has opened a second location in Sag Harbor. The Hamptons store will feature products that evoke the store’s distinctive outlook, a variety of handcrafted items from the Mediterranean coast selected by the owners. Furniture, lighting and home accessories brand Fisher Weisman has opened a gallery showroom in San Miguel de Allende, Mexico. Located in the historic quarter, the space pays homage to the origins of the brand in the city.

In London, British interior design firm Studio Ashby has unveiled Blewcoat, an appointment-only shopping destination for art and interior decoration. Soho Home has also announced the opening of Soho.Home.Studio Westbourne Grove in Notting Hill, London. Spanning nearly 8,000 square feet, the store will be open to members and non-members for interior design consultations with the Soho Home team.
