Chloe Williams fell. And, almost like a game of dominoes, they all folded.
There was her fellow players, her caddy and her fellow players’ caddies at the Ladies European Tour Aramco Series – Bangkok event, laughing. There was the TV announcer who gave Williams her iPhone to show her a replay, laughing. There was Williams herself, laughing.
And now there’s you too, joining in on the fun. However, you may find it difficult to decide which is better: the moment on Saturday 6th at the Thai Country Club or the reactions.
We’ll start with the fall. As Williams stepped back before his par-3 tee shot, his heel struck an extension of a billboard, the billboard collapsed and so did Williams. His legs shot up. She stood there for a while before a playmate grabbed her feet and spun her around before helping her up.
Then there was Williams’ play-by-play. The announcer caught up with her nine holes later.
“Tell us about this pre-swing routine you had today on the 6th,” the announcer deadpanned.
Williams laughed.
“Sorry I just saw this,” Williams said in the video. shared by the Tour on its Twitter account. “Oh, honestly, well, you know…”
Williams laughed.
“Oh sorry, that was brilliant,” he continued. “In my defense, it’s fine, she’s been there all week, but…”
Williams laughed.
“But the little one, well not little, the thing I tripped over is brown. It’s inside, you know what I mean…”
“But the grass is green,” said the announcer.
Williams laughed.
“Well, I didn’t see that,” he said. “Oh, I feel ashamed.”
At this point, the two began to walk down the street.
“We’re going to take a little walk to get to your dance,” said the announcer. “But why didn’t you show the camera what happened, what was the effect of the fall? Yes, he continues it. Well, God bless you, you got sunburned yesterday, so he thought that would be the worst of his problems. But you actually beat him in the final round, didn’t you?
Williams showed the camera a mark on the back of her right leg. He then he laughed.
“Oh honestly, you know, it’s just brilliant,” he said. But you know what, at least I can bring some fun to the group on the tee.”
Williams laughed.
“Well, you made par on that hole, didn’t you?” the announcer asked.
“Actually, the girls, I knew they were hysterical while I was on the ball,” Williams said. “And to be fair, I couldn’t believe how quickly I could compose myself. And then I threw it away and par. I told the girls it has to be one of the best pars I’ve ever done.”
Williams laughed.
“I bet you didn’t think you’d be doing the highlight video today, but you will,” the announcer said.
Williams laughed.
“I saw you coming,” she said. “I knew what was going on.”
“Well, take care, it’s okay. Get in your shot,” the announcer said. “I don’t want another fall, that’s fine.”
Williams laughed again. For those keeping score, that was nine times in the 80-second video.
“Oh, that’s amazing,” he said. “Very funny.”
