Juventus have an agreement in principle to sign Paul Pogba for free after his departure from Manchester United.
sky in italy They inform that the duration of the agreement has not yet been finalized. It will be a four-year contract or a three-year deal with an option for one more year.
Pogba is expected to officially sign the contract in early July.
Manchester United confirmed earlier this month that Pogba would leave the club at the end of his contract this summer. The move to Juventus would mark a return to a club where Pogba spent four years before returning to United in 2016.
As he approaches 30, Pogba is aware that this could be the last big move of his career and wants to take his time to ensure he makes the right decision.
Manchester City also made a surprising offer to sign Pogba from bitter rivals United, with Pep Guardiola meeting the midfielder and the club drafting a lucrative contract to show their desire to sign him.
But although the World Cup winner considered City’s offer, he felt the noise and hatred that came with it would not be worth it.
Pogba: Man Utd didn’t offer me anything | ‘I want to show that they have made a mistake’
Pogba has complained United offered him “nothing” despite the midfielder reportedly being offered two contracts worth more than £290,000 a week.
Sky sports news understands that he was offered a 3.5 percent increase in his contract.
In a preview of ‘The Pogmentary’, seen by the athleticPogba talks to his late agent Mino Raiola on United’s second proposal last July.
“Did Manchester (United) make a second offer?” Pogba asks Raiola.
“Yes,” Raiola replies. “They absolutely want you to stay. To me, the offer doesn’t reflect that. I told them, ‘If you want me to stay, don’t make that offer.’ I’ll make them understand that if they really want you to stay and want to build a project around you , this time they have to act differently and put the money on the table”.
“They are bluffing,” says Pogba. “How can you tell a player you absolutely love him and not offer him anything? He’s never seen that.”
Pogba at Man Utd: Mishandling or a mistake?
Dan Sansom of Sky Sports:
It was an agreement that caused a furor in social networks. Emerging from the shadows with a red devil branded in his hair, Pogba’s 2016 Manchester United announcement video was followed by a sponsored music clip featuring Stormzy. The #POGBACK hype had started.
It was supposed to be the start of something special. A new era for a club still struggling to recover from Sir Alex Ferguson’s retirement three years earlier.
But Pogba has failed to inspire United to past glories. The 2017 League Cup and Europa League are the only trophies from his six seasons.
After being booed off the pitch against Norwich and suffering a calf injury at Liverpool in April, Pogba will now leave the club for the second time. He can’t be blamed solely for United’s lack of success, but his departure marks a disappointing end to a transfer that promised so much.
As he nears his return to Juventus, sky sports analyzes Pogba’s second career at United.
How did it go so wrong? Was it poorly managed? Or was it Pogba who made the mistake?
