NBA stars keep falling for Skip Bayless’s trap

There is not much that surprises me in the world of sports today. We have seen some of everything, good, bad and ugly. One thing I keep thinking about is how many players (mainly from the NBA) keep tripping over jump without bay‘troll trap that sets Indisputable and Twitter. Trae Young and Draymond Green are the latest NBA stars to come and go with Skip.

Young is a very talented player who was recently embroiled in a Twitter dispute with Bayless for denigrating comments ranging from claims of bad play to mockery of Trae’s height. Nothing is off limits for Bayless as he taunts players because he knows he will get a reaction most of the time.

Green has also had his issues with Bayless lately in this battle for “old media vs. new media” supremacy. The two have clashed on Twitter, podcast platformsY Indisputable for Bayless. While entertaining, responding to Skip’s repeated punches only furthers his agenda. Bayless has been trolling for a couple of decades. He probably doesn’t even believe half the crap that comes out of his mouth at this point.

But these players keep wandering around his traps, feeding on his schtick. That’s all it is anyway. This has been the Bayless act on television dating back to the days of cold pizzaafter first take after. It is nothing new. Just ask Chris Bosh and Jalen Rose. As convincing as it was for television, all that testing probably went too far.

The tension between Bayless and Bosh grew so intense that the Heat star joined Skip at First Take in 2011 to confront him about the “Bosh Spice” moniker. Bayless stood her ground and even called him Bosh Spice to his face. Ultimately, I’m not sure what he accomplished in that meeting of the minds, but it was good for the ratings. In the end, that’s all Skip cares about, and it’s the main reason he’s trolling the new generation of gamers.

Skip’s arrogance eventually led him to a First Take for the Ages debate with Rose. Bayless was destroyed throughout by Rose, who flipped Skip, mocking your high school stats. Not long after Rose, NFL player Richard Sherman appeared on the show and completely eliminated Bayless. The bully tasted his own medicine and, for once, had no answer. Well, at least twice, you could say.

Of course, neither case caused Skip to reflect and change the error of his ways. He immediately continued to trolling players after each incident where he was shut down on a national stage. Talk about not giving F***s. By now, you’d think players would have learned to let Bayless talk himself into dumbfoundedness.

The only players Bayless regularly reprimands who don’t feel the need to fire back are Stephen Curry and LeBron James. Every day on FS1, at some point, Skip and Shannon Sharpe are guaranteed to debate James/Lakers and Curry/Warriors. This was especially true this season when the Warriors returned to prominence and the Lakers sucked.

No matter how well Curry or James played, Bayless had energy for them and they never flinched. LeBron posted a tweet before the 2021-22 season about everyone talking about him and his teammates, how old they were and how it wasn’t going to work out with Russell Westbrook, and he just wanted people to keep the same “narrative energy.” .” It wasn’t directed at anyone in particular, but I’m sure Skip came to mind when James wrote that tweet.

Steph then doesn’t seem to pay much attention to any of it, although she did comment on what was said about the Warriors during a brief pause from the top of the mountain. Again, he didn’t say any names, but surely Bayless is one of the experts that message was intended for. Also, he has Draymond, who speaks enough for the whole team, especially with his podcast.

Kevin Durant may be the easiest player to catch in a verbal altercation via Twitter. He’s never shy about criticizing anyone, but I’m sure he enjoys setting his sights on Bayless more. Skip has claimed for years that he is “from Durant.”biggest fan”, but that never mattered to KD. He is not a fan of Skip, no matter how many times he argues for him in Indisputable.

With social media and how reactionary many players are these days, Bayless will be on TV debating and trolling on social media until he can’t talk anymore. With guys like Green, Young and KD more than willing to engage Skip at all times, his place is assured in the talk show landscape. If the players really want to take down Skip Bayless, they need to take a page out of LeBron and Steph’s playbook. Don’t say his name. Don’t give him the energy because he feeds on it.
