The NASCAR Cup Series is racing at Road America for the third time since 1956 on Sunday in the Kwik Trip 250.
The course returned to the Cup Series schedule last year after a hiatus of more than 60 years. Hendrick Motorsports’ Chase Elliott captured the checkered flag in a fairly lopsided race.
A year later, Elliott looks poised to finish in victory lane once again. The Cup Series points leader will start Sunday’s race in pole position after passing Stewart-Haas’s Chase Briscoe in qualifying on Saturday.

If Elliott can repeat as champion at Road America, it would be his third win of the season. Elliott took the checkered flag at Dover in May and at Nashville last week.
Sporting News followed live updates from the Kwik Trip 250 on Road America. Below are the results and highlights from Sunday’s race.
NASCAR at Road America live updates, highlights from Kwik Trip 250
18:01: Reddick captures the checkered flag and becomes the fifth first-time winner on the Cup Series Circuit! The top five unofficials are Reddick, Elliott, Kyle Larson, Ross Chastain and Daniel Suarez.
18:00: One lap to go and Reddick seems to be in charge! About four seconds ahead of Elliott. Not much left!
17:57: It seems that Reddick’s experience at Road America (he drove there during his time on the Xfinity Series) is serving him well. Two laps to go and he has a four-second lead on Elliott. Just a little longer.
17:55: With four laps to go, Reddick’s lead has increased to more than 2.5 seconds ahead of Elliott. If all goes according to plan and no caution flags are waved, Reddick appears poised to capture the first checkered flag of his Cup Series career.
17:50: Reddick’s lead grows to around 1.3 seconds. Six laps to go. If Reddick can hang on, he’ll put himself in prime position to compete in the Cup Series playoffs.
17:48: Reddick still holds his own in first place. However, Elliott is less than a second behind Reddick and has proven effective at keeping pace through these corners, specifically Turns 5 and 6.
17:40: Reddick and Elliott hosting a clinic so far. 10 laps to go and both are being particularly precise in their turns. Kyle Larson sits a distant third, more than eight seconds behind Reddick’s pace.
They can @TylerReddick expect?
They can @chaseelliott take it?
Less than 10 to go.

It’s a two-horse race and it looks like we’re headed for a really dramatic finish.
17:33: Reddick leading the race with 13 laps remaining. The 26-year-old has never had a Cup Series run, but his performance on Sunday could go a long way toward securing his playoff status. Reddick entered the Kwik Trip 250 ranked 13th in Cup Series points this season.
17:23: Reddick and Elliott have gone back and forth for pole all day. With only 16 laps remaining, Reddick passed Elliott. Really exciting watch so far.
Reddick takes the lead from Elliott… with 16 laps to go.

16:43: Logano and Wallace collided with each other, causing both of them to spin. According to Jordan Bianchi of The Athletic, Logano and his team took the blame for the fight.
Joey Logano asks the team to apologize to Bubba Wallace and the 23rd team because he “just screwed up.”

16:40: Elliott opted to pit, once again relinquishing pole position. Team Penske’s Ryan Blaney looks set to take the flag for Stage 2. Joey Hand has impressed so far and sits in second place, less than two seconds behind Blaney.

16:36: William Byron headed to pit road once more. He looks like he’s having some trouble with his wheels.
Unfortunately @WilliamByron will have to go back to pit road for a loose tire#raptor24

16:34: Bubba Wallace and Joey Logano spin after crashing into each other. Looks like we’re headed for a caution flag.
16:25: The little contact between Daniel Suarez and Martin Truex Jr. does not result in anything disastrous, but the race is still very close as it approaches its halfway point.
16:20: Chase Elliott takes the lead once again. Kyle Larson is in second place, less than two seconds behind Elliott, followed by Tyler Reddick.
Briscoe, who secured his seventh point in the playoffs with his Stage 1 win, dropped as low as 13th after heading to the pits.
16:02: Chase Briscoe takes Stage 1!
STAGE WINNER: @chaseelliott wells! @ChaseBriscoe_14 It is not!

15:56: Elliott will head to the pits, conceding first place to Briscoe. Elliott will look to correct his wheel problem during his stop.
15:47: Elliott has a nearly four-second lead over Briscoe after 10 laps. It seems that the wheel problem he was concerned about before Sunday’s race hasn’t had much of an impact so far.
15:41: Ross Chastain doing Ross Chastain stuff. The No. 1 car makes an aggressive pass to Alex Bowman.
Chastain has received a lot of criticism for riding aggressively. However, based on the beginning of it, it seems that those comments have not bothered him too much.
15:38: Kyle Busch and Aric Almirola crash into each other at turn 5.

It could be a big problem for Almirola, who appeared to take minor damage. Almirola finds himself a few spots outside of the Cup Series playoff seeds. A strong finish today could go a long way in helping the Stewart-Haas driver qualify for the season-ending tournament.
3:30 pm: Elliott has pole position after two laps, although Elliott seemed to be concerned about his No. 9 car before the race. Something to keep in mind to move forward.
“Just get ready.”

15:27: And we go! Chase Elliott holds the pole position, followed by Chase Briscoe.
15:07: The national anthem has been sung, the fighter jets are out, and the runners are on the track. Time for some racing!
