Man Utd boss Erik ten Hag makes transfer decision after furious Carrington raid | Soccer | Sport

Manchester United boss Erik ten Hag is set to sell Alex Telles in this summer’s transfer window after the Brazilian was involved in a training ground raid, according to reports. The Samba star was signed by Ole Gunnar Solskjaer from Porto two years ago. But he has often struggled at Old Trafford and, with the arrival of Tyrell Malacia, a parting of ways appears to be on the cards.

In May, Telles and Hannibal Mejbri were reportedly involved in a raid on the club’s Carrington training complex.

And The Mirror says the Samba star is now in line to be sold, with Ten Hag keen to assert himself in the dressing room and make it clear that breaches of discipline will not be tolerated.

It is claimed that the incident at his compound left the teammates ‘shocked’, with Ralf Rangnick being forced to leave the session early despite his desire to see the team members improve.

The players tried to defuse the situation when Hannibal and Telles clashed, with the duo being 10 years apart.

Telles moved to Old Trafford from Porto in the summer 2020 transfer window, with Solskjaer convinced he would be a huge success.

But the 29-year-old has often struggled and struggled to break into the squad before Luke Shaw, no matter the nature of the England international’s performances.

Telles was also recently involved in an argument with Bruno Fernandes, in footage that was captured on film and posted on social media.

Fernandes objected to the Brazil international and Fred shooting footage in Carrington for a ‘Day in the Life’ video.

Fernandes yelled at the two to stop ‘being players’ and then barked that they were ‘here to play football, not to film it’.

He also cursed the camera crew who were also present, telling them to ‘film my (expletive)’.

Hannibal has been a tenacious figure during his brief United career so far and drew praise for his brutal cameo in the club’s 4-0 loss to Liverpool in April.

However, while his temper may be questionable, it appears United are ready to back the 19-year-old over Telles.

With Malacia set to join from Feyenoord, for a fee of £13.5m, Telles’ days at the club are coming to an end.

And he’s not the only player who could leave United, with the futures of seven other active players currently up in the air.

Eric Bailly is wanted by Fulham and has been deemed over the top even if he wants to stay at Old Trafford.

Phil Jones could be offloaded, with the England international plagued by injuries since his arrival from Blackburn Rovers in the 2011 summer transfer window.

United are ready to listen to offers for the likes of Axel Tuanzebe and Brandon Williams as well.

Crystal Palace are eyeing Aaron Wan-Bissaka, although there are claims that Ten Hag is ready to give him a pre-season to prove his worth.

And Andreas Pereira and Anthony Martial, who were on loan at Flamengo and Sevilla respectively last season, also face an uncertain future.

Meanwhile, Michael Carrick opened up about Ten Hag and outlined his expectations for the upcoming season.

Speaking to Sky Sports, he said: “United can hopefully get off to a good start to the season and move on. And it will be interesting to see how it goes.

“I think he showed at Ajax and in his coaching career that he has strong beliefs and that his teams play a certain way.

“I really want to see that. I hope they have a good start to the season and if they do, they can build momentum from there.

“You want to be up there, challenging.

“At the start of every season at United, you want to win trophies and win the league.

“So I’m sure they’ll try to do that.”

United finished sixth in the Premier League table last season, which means they will play in the Europa League next season.
