Arsenal have already closed deals to sign Marquinhos and Fabio Vieira, the latter of which materialized quickly and only after an offer was accepted by FC Porto.

Arsenal believe they now have enough processes in place to stop the kind of leaks that ultimately derailed their search for Dusan Vlahovic.

The Serb emerged as the Gunners’ top transfer priority during the January window, hoping to become a direct replacement for Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang’s departure. His attempts to sign the Fiorentina striker were well publicized with the protracted saga that saw him end up with Italian giants Juventus.

And while Emirates bosses may have done little to persuade Vlahovic, who has since made it clear his heart was set on a move to Turin, it was a painful affair for those involved.

That whole saga took place in contrast to his business in the previous window, which saw targets quickly identified and recruited, regardless of outside noise. It is also a pattern that has continued in his most recent transfer deals, particularly in the case of Fabio Vieira.

The former FC Porto midfielder was one of the few names not closely associated with a move to north London before reports emerged that a deal had been struck with the Portuguese giants. Vieira was then on the next flight to the capital, with medical exams complete and an agreement announced in just a few days.

It was a move that took many outside the confines of London Colney by surprise, but Soccer.London reports that it will now be the way for Arsenal to move forward. The report claims that while Mikel Arteta is in charge of the Gunners, they will continue to operate in a way that does not attract too much attention and therefore risk losing deals with rivals.

There is now confidence that, fresh from the failed Vlahovic chase, the right strategies are now in place to ensure no leaks from the club surface. So perhaps there is some concern that the offers for Gabriel Jesus and Raphinha will become public knowledge, attracting interest from Tottenham in both cases.

Arteta’s admiration for Jesus has been hard to mask, after the Manchester City striker emerged as his main striker target for the summer window. But Rapinha’s rejected offer has opened up the possibility of Leeds United holding an auction to bring the Brazilian’s fee above market value.

Regardless, manager Edu remains optimistic that work is being done to ensure fans are more than satisfied with Arsenal’s business when the time window closes in early September.

Speaking after the acquisition of Vieira, he said: “We are very happy to have completed the signing of Fabio from FC Porto. Fabio is a player with special qualities who is comfortable with the ball in the last third of the pitch.

“We are all looking forward to working with him and enjoying his future contribution to Arsenal. We will now continue to work hard and hope to finish this transfer window as strongly as possible.”
