Alphonse Areola: West Ham sign goalkeeper on five-year permanent deal from Paris Saint-Germain | Transfer Center News

West Ham have completed the permanent transfer of Paris Saint-Germain goalkeeper Alphonse Areola on a five-year deal.

Areola joined West Ham on loan last summer with an option to buy, an option they have taken with £7.75m of the fee being paid to PSG.

The 29-year-old joins the Hammers on a five-year deal through the summer of 2027, with an additional one-year option.

“I feel good, I feel great, I’m happy to sign and happy to stay here permanently and I can’t wait to start training and getting the job done,” Areola said.

“The main thing is that I felt the affection of the fans last season. Something that is very important to me is feeling loved. I know that I have to do my job and do everything possible to make them happy. And obviously also the team, my teammates , the coaching staff and also Xavi Valero. Last season was very good, so I wanted to do everything possible to stay here.

“I feel comfortable, I feel that when I’m signing for a club, I want to feel like it’s like my second family. Obviously, we’re here every day and we’re sharing a lot of moments together, so I have to be comfortable with everyone and make them comfortable with me too, so I’m comfortable here.”

West Ham offer £30m for Chelsea striker Broja

West Ham are set to bid in the region of £30m for the Chelsea striker Armando Broja.

The 20-year-old has been identified as West Ham’s main target this summer and talks continue with Chelsea.

The club want to step up their search for the Albanian international, with his future expected to be in the hands of new co-owner Todd Boehly and manager Thomas Tuchel following the departure of Chelsea manager Marina Granovskaia.

West Ham tried to sign Broja in January and a source says Tuchel wants to see him in pre-season before making a decision.

What other positions are West Ham targeting?

Sky Sports News chief reporter Kaveh Solhekol:

David Moyes will be given spending money to further build his squad, with Mark Noble, Andriy Yarmolenko, Ryan Fredericks and David Martin leaving at the end of their contracts.

One of the sagas of the summer will be the future of Declan Rice. West Ham have made it clear they won’t be selling him this summer, but one would think they’d find it hard to turn down an offer in the region of £100m. Rice has two years left on his contract, but West Ham have the option to extend it for another year until the summer of 2025.

They are also interested in Hull City striker Keane Lewis-Potter.
